The T-BAS build up is made up mainly from Black Type progeny.

The process starts with the Broodmare Sire.

There needs to be at least 10 Black Type progeny available by a specific Broodmare Sire before a T-BAS CARD can be constructed.

The Sires of the progeny of the Broodmare Sire In question will then be dissected by doing so in 4 Tables.

Table 2:
The Sire's Maternal Line

Table 3:

Table 4:
The Dam's Dam Sire Line

  • From the results of the 4 Tables comes the construction of the Recommended Sire List (RSL) for the Sire, from which the Broodmare Sire Index (BSI) is generated.
  • The Sires from the RSL for the various Broodmare Sires are then grouped together based on the Dominant Broodmare Sire and that provides the the SI.
  • The T-BAS CARD can now be constructed from all the Dominant Broodmare Sires, rated by their SI Ratings.

Some important notes:

The SI for one Sire cannot be compared with that of another Sire, except where the SI Rating is 1,000, all are the same.

A CARD will start with a minimum of seven (7) Dominant Broodmare Sires.

From there the Colour Bands, Targeting the Breeding or Purchasing potential:

YELLOW

Targets Group 1 breeding/racing potential.

ORANGE

Targets Group breeding/racing potential.

BLUE

Targets Group placed & Listed breeding/racing potential.

GREEN

Targets Black Type placed breeding/racing potential.

GREY

High Risk Black Type breeding/racing!

Again, it needs to be stated, there are no guarantees and breeding or buying a horse with a weak Dam Line or a weak Sire will hardly meet the above expectations, but to potentially improve the breed is high and maybe on the future generations, Black Type may appear.
